Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced major decisions, including the release of 6,000 crore pending dues of retired employees within 100 days. He directed the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) to submit its report and assured that health cards will be issued to all employees by June 1.
With the Chief Minister providing assurances on their major demands, the government employees and pensioners' joint action committee (JAC) has called off their proposed hunger strike scheduled for May 5, along with other agitational programs, temporarily.
Revanth gave these assurances during a meeting with the government employees' JAC. The Chief Minister directed the PRC to submit its report, stating that the government was ready to take a decision on the enhancement of salaries.
Addressing the JAC leaders and members, Revanth responded positively to the proposal of issuing health cards to employees before June 1 and initiating the implementation of the revised employee health scheme. The government will disburse 6,000 crore towards retirement benefits of employees. The decision regarding the prioritization of how these funds would be utilized rests with employee unions. Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka was instructed to study the opposition of employees to the contributory pension scheme (CPS) and examine the revival of the old pension scheme.
The Chief Minister told the JAC leaders and members that one of the important decisions taken by the Congress government immediately after coming into office was the payment of salaries on the first of every month to employees. The employee unions were given freedom to conduct their elections independently.
He acknowledged the services of government employees in the successful implementation of welfare and development programs since the Congress came to power in 2023. The government also conducted the transfers of teachers in a planned manner without confusion and chaos during the process, he told the JAC members.
Highlighting that the Congress government recruited 67,760 employees in different departments, the Chief Minister suggested that employee unions meet once every two months and submit a report to the government regarding any issues or concerns. "This is a friendly government, and the responsibility of resolving your issues lies with us," he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka assured that there would be zero pending bills by June 2.
