Tragic Death of Teen in Illegal Bullfight Shocks Nanded Village
A 17-year-old boy, diligently preparing for his Standard X board examinations, lost his life in a horrific accident during an illegal bullfight at Alegao village in Nanded's Kandhar taluka on Sunday evening. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious concerns about such unauthorized events.
The victim has been identified as Khandu Ramchandra Jhampalwad, a resident of a family of sugar cane cutters. According to police officials, his parents work as daily wage laborers, and despite facing significant financial hardships, Khandu often assisted them with farm activities while balancing his studies for the upcoming SSC exams. Eyewitness Accounts Describe Chaotic Scene
Witnesses at the bullfight reported that the tragedy occurred during the final round of the event when one of the bulls suddenly became uncontrollable and charged directly toward the spectators. "Khandu, who was among them, was struck with force and died on the spot," a spectator recounted, describing the chaotic and fatal moment. The illegal nature of the bullfight has come under scrutiny, with authorities emphasizing the dangers associated with such unregulated gatherings.
Police Response and Legal Actions
In response to the incident, Nanded Superintendent of Police Abinash Kumar has directed local law enforcement to register a First Information Report (FIR) against both the organisers of the event and the owner of the bull. Initially, an accidental death (AD) case was registered by Assistant Inspector Sanjay Nilpatrewar of the Usmannagar police. "We have recorded the statement of the victim's cousin, who was with him at the time of the incident. Once the family files a complaint, we will register an FIR," he explained, outlining the procedural steps being taken.
Officers at the Usmannagar police station have indicated that any further legal action will be contingent upon a thorough review of the formal complaint. The investigation aims to hold those responsible accountable and prevent similar tragedies in the future, underscoring the need for stricter enforcement against illegal activities in rural areas.
