A prominent land developer from Surat found himself behind bars after a lavish birthday celebration for his son spiraled into a public nuisance and a legal case. Dipak Ijardar was arrested for blocking a busy road and bursting firecrackers, an act that violated a direct police order and caused significant traffic congestion.
The Viral Incident and Immediate Arrest
The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 8 pm in the Sultanabad village area under Dumas police station limits. Ijardar, who resides at Bhakti Bunglow near the post office, allegedly moved the celebrations onto the public road in front of his bungalow. Assistant Commissioner of Police Deep Vakil confirmed that Ijardar's actions led to a heavy traffic jam on the busy thoroughfare.
As videos of the reckless celebration began circulating widely on social media, police swiftly took action. Dipak Ijardar was booked and arrested for blatantly violating a notification issued by the Police Commissioner that prohibits bursting firecrackers on public roads. During subsequent legal proceedings, the developer expressed remorse for his actions.
A Pattern of Controversial Behavior
This is not the first time Dipak Ijardar has been involved in a public altercation. The recent firecracker episode reveals a pattern of unruly behavior. In a previous incident in July, he was accused of threatening a woman named Darshana Patel over the installation of posters in Sultanabad.
According to the complaint filed by Patel, Ijardar, allegedly aided by his bodyguards, verbally abused her in front of her son. The matter was reported to the Dumas police, and a case was registered against Ijardar based on her complaint. This history adds context to the latest violation of law and public order.
Witness Accounts and Legal Repercussions
Witnesses to the birthday celebration reported an even more alarming detail. They stated that Ijardar threatened a motorist by directing the flames from the firecrackers in his hand toward the individual, in a menacing gesture that simulated setting the person on fire. This aggressive act compounded the seriousness of the traffic violation.
Following his arrest, Ijardar reportedly apologised for his actions and promised not to repeat the offense. The case highlights the police's strict stance against activities that disrupt public life and safety, regardless of the perpetrator's social or economic status. The enforcement of the Police Commissioner's notification was immediate and serves as a warning against such public nuisances.
