DMK IT Wing Must Set Agenda, Not Just Counter Criticism: CM Stalin
Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday delivered a strong message to DMK IT wing functionaries, urging them to abandon complacency and shift from merely countering opposition criticism to actively setting the agenda. Speaking at a meeting titled 'DMK Loading 2.0' in Chennai, Stalin emphasized the need for the party's IT wing to move beyond defensive replies and take control of the social media narrative in the lead-up to the 2026 assembly election.
Proactive Social Media Strategy
Stalin asserted that the party's online presence must be more dynamic and purposeful. "We should be more active online. Your job online is not to trend a hashtag; it is to set the agenda. We are kings in content," he said, encouraging cadre to proactively highlight government achievements, welfare schemes, and infrastructure projects. He called for a coordinated effort to disseminate videos, local updates, and official communications, ensuring that the DMK's narrative dominates both online and offline spaces without leaving any gaps until the elections.
Countering Misinformation
The Chief Minister also targeted right-wing social media networks, alleging that several BJP-linked accounts operate solely to spread misinformation. "A mix of official handles and meme pages was used to circulate designed fake news to create unrest in the state," Stalin claimed. He advised functionaries to respond immediately with evidence in comments and replies when false claims are made, forcing opponents to retract their statements. He referenced a recent instance where, he alleged, a Union minister deleted a tweet after coordinated rebuttals from the DMK.
Digital Agents at Booth Level
In a notable claim, Stalin stated that the DMK is the only political party in India to deploy digital agents at the booth level. This initiative aims to strengthen grassroots digital outreach and ensure effective communication of the party's message across all levels of the electorate.
