SNDP Yogam Leader Warns Against Caste Divisions, Calls for Hindu Unity in Kerala

In a significant editorial published in the latest edition of Yoganadam, the official mouthpiece of the SNDP Yogam, general secretary Vellappally Natesan has issued a stark warning about the potential decline of the Hindu community in Kerala if it continues to fight along caste lines. Natesan emphasized that he has taken the initiative to foster unity among the majority Hindu communities to prevent such a dire outcome.

Editorial Highlights Concerns Over Social Fragmentation

Natesan expressed his views in the editorial, where he articulated a hope that all like-minded individuals, irrespective of caste or religious differences, would join this movement for unity. He stated that he expects this participation to materialize without much delay, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

Positioning himself as a representative of a caste that constitutes approximately one-third of Kerala's population, Natesan noted that he has been voicing the concerns of this section for over three decades. He asserted his responsibility in advocating for their issues, highlighting his long-standing commitment to social representation.

Universal Human Emotions and Kerala's Social Context

In his editorial, Natesan reflected on the universality of human emotions, such as pain and joy, which transcend caste and religious boundaries. He lamented that the lack of awareness regarding this fact among many in Kerala is a misfortune for the state.

Natesan pointed out that the social context in Kerala has undergone significant changes. For an extended period, the majority community was isolated, and due to the dominance of religious minority parties, they faced neglect at administrative levels. This historical neglect, he argued, has contributed to the current challenges facing the Hindu community.

Padma Bhushan Honor and Dedication to Sree Narayana Guru

Regarding the Padma Bhushan honor, Natesan suggested that community activities and social interventions, including microfinance initiatives, could have been considered for such awards. He credited the ordinary people in large numbers for making such recognitions possible.

Natesan dedicated the honor given by the country at the feet of Sree Narayana Guru, emphasizing the spiritual and social legacy that continues to inspire efforts towards unity and progress in Kerala.
