Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Appeals to BJP Leaders for Central Support

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has made a direct appeal to BJP elected representatives. He wants them to assist Karnataka in securing funds from the Union government. Siddaramaiah spoke during the inauguration of Chalukya Utsav in Bagalkot on Monday night.

State Government's Substantial Investments in Badami

The Chief Minister highlighted the state government's efforts in the Badami assembly constituency. He revealed that works worth Rs 2,500 crore have been sanctioned over the last two and a half years. This significant investment underscores the government's commitment to regional development.

Call for BJP MPs to Fulfill Promises on Statue Funding

Siddaramaiah specifically addressed Bagalkot BJP MP PC Gaddigoudar. He reminded everyone about Gaddigoudar's promise to obtain Union funds for Immadi Pulikeshi's statue. The Chief Minister stated that a formal requisition will be submitted soon. However, he emphasized that Gaddigoudar must take personal responsibility for securing these funds. Siddaramaiah expressed frustration over many previous requisitions that received no response from the central authorities.

Collaborative Funding Approach for Terdal

The Chief Minister also mentioned Terdal BJP MLA Siddu Savadi. He assured that the state government will provide all possible funds for Terdal's development. In return, he expects BJP elected representatives to ensure the state receives its due share of funds from the Union government. This call for cooperation highlights the need for bipartisan efforts in governance.

Reflecting on Past Tenure and Unfulfilled Goals

Siddaramaiah recalled his time as the Badami MLA. He expressed gratitude for the support from the people of Badami, even though he visited the town only two or three times before contesting elections. The Chief Minister shared his personal disappointment. He could not organize Chalukya Utsav or establish Immadi Pulikeshi's statue during his previous tenure.

Revival of Chalukya Utsav with Increased Budget

The current Badami MLA Bhimsen Chimmanakatti and district minister RB Timmapur requested the revival of Chalukya Utsav. Siddaramaiah responded positively by announcing it in the state budget. An initial allocation of Rs 3 crore was made for the festival. The Chief Minister confirmed an additional Rs 1 crore will be provided. He also promised assistance for unveiling Immadi Pulikeshi's statue.

Siddaramaiah explained the festival's purpose. Chalukya Utsav aims to introduce the rich legacy of the Chalukya dynasty to today's generation. The event highlights Badami's historical heritage, which had not been celebrated for the past decade. Its organization now follows the budget announcement, marking a renewed cultural initiative.

Commitment to Regional Development and Tourism

Responding to media queries about Badami's development, Siddaramaiah listed several projects undertaken during his MLA tenure. He provided an update on a key tourism project. The tourism minister has granted clearance for road development leading to Menada Basadi. This project will commence soon, boosting local infrastructure and tourism potential.
