Karnataka Congress president and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is set to take oath as the state's next chief minister on June 3, according to Karnataka Congress working president G C Chandrashekhar. Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Saturday, Chandrashekhar confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan. He stated that a decision has been finalized for the ceremony on June 3, with the exact time to be announced later.
Simple Ceremony Emphasized
Chandrashekhar indicated that the event should not be extravagant. He emphasized that it should be conducted as simply as possible, reflecting a spirit of work and service rather than display or pomp. The party has issued directions to ensure the ceremony remains modest.
Statewide Tour Planned
After taking office, Shivakumar is expected to embark on a statewide tour. Chandrashekhar noted that Shivakumar will visit all district headquarters to seek public blessings following the oath-taking.
Astrologer's Recommendation
Astrologer Aaradhya, who advises Shivakumar, recommended that the oath be taken on June 3 at 5:15 pm at Lok Bhavan. This recommendation comes amid intense political activity within the ruling Congress after Siddaramaiah stepped down on May 28. Although Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot accepted Siddaramaiah's resignation and dissolved the Council of Ministers, Siddaramaiah has been asked to continue as Chief Minister until alternative arrangements are made.
CLP Meeting Precedes Decision
Ahead of a crucial Congress Legislature Party meeting on Saturday, Shivakumar arrived at Lok Bhavan and reiterated that party observers would consult the high command before a final decision is formalized. He stated that the CLP meeting would be held in Bengaluru at 4 PM, with two observers present. The observers will then take a call after consulting with the High Command.
