In a significant move to bolster law enforcement infrastructure, the Bihar government has sanctioned a substantial sum of Rs 34 crore for the construction of new police buildings in two key locations. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who also holds the portfolio of Home Minister, on Friday.
Major Allocation for Modern Police Infrastructure
Deputy CM Choudhary detailed that the approved funds are part of the state's broader strategy to strengthen the police system. A significant portion, Rs 18 crore, has been earmarked for the construction of a new office-cum-residential building for the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Muzaffarpur. This proposed G+4 structure is designed to be equipped with modern facilities, providing a integrated workspace and living quarters for top police officials in the district.
Simultaneously, addressing the needs of the state capital, the government has approved Rs 15 crore for a new police station building in the Buddha Colony area of Patna. This will be a G+6 building. Choudhary emphasized the long-felt necessity for this facility, citing the rapidly growing population of Patna as the state capital. The new station is expected to significantly improve policing and public service in the bustling area.
Beyond Construction: A Push for Systemic Modernization
Choudhary clarified that the government's vision extends beyond mere construction. The goal is a comprehensive modernization of the entire police system. He revealed that special provisions have been incorporated in the 2025-26 state budget specifically for the construction and strengthening of police buildings across Bihar.
The future blueprint for these new infrastructures includes creating spaces for modern offices, training facilities, and residential accommodations. This integrated approach aims to consolidate all necessary facilities in one location, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and providing a better working environment for police personnel.
Ground-Level Impact on Law and Order
The Deputy CM asserted that the state government is committed to translating its talk on law and order into concrete, ground-level action. He stated that providing police officers and personnel with a superior working environment through these modern buildings will have a direct, positive impact on their effectiveness. This, in turn, is expected to directly benefit the general public through improved policing and security services.
By investing in modern resources and facilities, the Bihar government aims to empower its police force to work more effectively, ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure environment for the citizens of Muzaffarpur and Patna.
