RJD to Honor Socialist Icon Karpoori Thakur with Major Commemorative Event in Patna
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is set to observe the solemn death anniversary of the revered socialist leader and former Bihar Chief Minister, Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, on Tuesday. The commemorative program will be held at the prominent Bapu Auditorium located in the state capital of Patna.
Senior Leadership to Grace the Occasion
The event will be formally presided over by RJD's Bihar state president, Mangni Lal Mandal. In a significant show of respect and party unity, the gathering is expected to be attended by numerous senior party figures. This includes the national working president of the RJD, Tejashwi Yadav, whose presence underscores the importance of Thakur's legacy within the party's contemporary ideology.
Extensive Preparations and Outreach Campaign
RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad confirmed that the party has undertaken extensive and meticulous preparations for this anniversary program. As part of a major outreach initiative, the RJD has flagged off a fleet of 11 Karpoori Vichar Raths (chariots of thought).
These mobile units have a dual mission:
- To propagate the core socialist ideas and principles championed by Karpoori Thakur.
- To inform and educate the public about the current promises and policy visions of leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Key promises being highlighted include the Mai-Behan Maan Yojana, a scheme focused on women's dignity and welfare, alongside commitments for providing free electricity and enhancing social security pensions for the state's residents.
Remembering a Champion of Social Justice
Karpoori Thakur, who served as the Chief Minister of Bihar twice, is widely celebrated as a stalwart champion of social justice and affirmative action. His tenure is remembered for landmark contributions to the welfare and upliftment of marginalized communities within the state. In a historic recognition of his lifelong service, Thakur was posthumously conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in the year 2024.
Call for Massive Participation
The RJD leadership has issued a fervent appeal to all its cadre, leaders, and dedicated workers across Bihar. They are urged to participate in the Tuesday event in large numbers to ensure its grand success and to pay fitting tribute to the enduring legacy of Jananayak Karpoori Thakur. The commemoration is seen as both a moment of remembrance and a platform to reaffirm the party's commitment to his ideals of equity and justice.
