The Gurugram unit of the anti-corruption bureau on Thursday arrested a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector posted at the Kund police outpost in Rewari for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 to release an impounded motorcycle despite a court order directing its handover to the owner.
Yogesh Kumar, in-charge of Kund outpost, and ASI Kuldeep were caught inside the police outpost, officials said. The case traces back to an April 19 theft at Old Ashoka Hotel in Padla village on NH-11. Hotel owner Sunil Kumar Manethi had alleged that an employee fled with around Rs 70,000, a tablet, valuables and a motorcycle belonging to Shravan Kumar of Nandha village. Police later recovered the stolen items, including the motorcycle. The matter went to court, which ordered the bike to be released to its owner.
However, Shravan Kumar alleged the police outpost officials demanded money to facilitate the release. The complainant recorded his conversations with the accused and approached the ACB.
