Rajasthan Government Implements Major IPS Reshuffle, Transfers 21 Officers
In a significant administrative overhaul, the Rajasthan government on Monday evening executed a major transfer of 21 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state. This extensive reshuffle includes high-ranking officials and signals a comprehensive reorganisation within the state's police leadership structure.
Key Appointments and Transfers at Senior Levels
The transfer list features two officers at the Additional Director General (ADG) rank, thirteen Inspectors General (IG), and several Deputy Inspectors General (DIG). Sharat Kaviraj has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Jodhpur, replacing Om Prakash I, who has been reassigned as Special Commissioner (Operations) within the Jaipur Police Commissionerate.
At the ADG level, notable changes include Hawa Singh Ghumaria moving from ADG (Crime) to ADG (Headquarters). Vipin Kumar Pandey will now assume the role of ADG (Crime). Furthermore, Praful Kumar has been promoted from IG (Intelligence) to ADG (Intelligence), marking a significant career advancement.
Inspector General Rank Reassignments and New Postings
The reshuffle also involves several key IG-rank transfers aimed at optimizing police operations. Raghvendra Suhasa, previously IG of Jaipur Range, has been transferred to ADG (Police Training). Rahul Prakash will take over as the new IG for Jaipur Range.
Other important IG postings include:
- S Parimala appointed as IG (Anti-Corruption Bureau - ACB)
- Vikas Kumar designated as IG heading the Anti-Narcotics Task Force

Additional IG appointments feature Preeti Chandra as IG (Law and Order), Rahul Kotaki as IG (Police Headquarters), and Om Prakash II as IG for Bikaner Range.
Specialized Unit Leadership Changes
The administrative restructuring extends to specialized police units with strategic appointments. Rajesh Singh has been posted as IG of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), while Rajendra Goyal assumes charge as IG for Kota Range. Kalu Ram Ravat has been appointed as IG (Civil Rights and Anti-Human Trafficking), reflecting the government's focus on human rights protection.
Strategic Objectives Behind the Reshuffle
This comprehensive transfer of IPS officers is viewed as part of the Rajasthan government's ongoing initiative to streamline policing mechanisms and strengthen law enforcement capabilities across the state. The reshuffle aims to bring fresh perspectives to key positions, enhance operational efficiency, and address evolving security challenges through strategic placement of experienced officers.
The timing of these transfers suggests a proactive approach by the administration to optimize police leadership ahead of potential security requirements and administrative assessments. By rotating officers across different roles and regions, the government seeks to prevent stagnation, promote cross-functional expertise, and ensure robust policing infrastructure throughout Rajasthan.
