Punjab Chief Minister Honors Martyrs, Launches Heritage Complex on Bhagat Singh Day
In a solemn ceremony at the historic National Martyrs' Memorial in Hussainiwala, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann paid heartfelt tributes to the legendary revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day. The event, held on Monday, was marked by deep reverence and a renewed commitment to honoring the sacrifices of these national heroes.
Foundation Stone Laid for Rs 24.99 Crore Heritage Complex
Chief Minister Mann laid the foundation stone for the ambitious Hussainiwala Heritage Complex, a project valued at Rs 24.99 crore. This initiative is designed to preserve and promote the legacy of the martyrs for future generations. The complex aims to develop the heritage area at Hussainiwala, enhancing its historical significance while also boosting tourism in Punjab.
"This project is a humble effort to honor our great martyrs and ensure their stories continue to inspire," Mann stated during the ceremony. He emphasized that the heritage complex will serve as a lasting tribute to the courage and vision of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev.
Felicitating Families and Reaffirming Commitment
In a touching gesture, CM Mann felicitated the families of the martyrs, acknowledging their enduring connection to the nation's freedom struggle. He reaffirmed his government's dedication to building a Rangla Punjab (Vibrant Punjab) that is rooted in the ideals and vision of these revolutionaries.
Mann highlighted that the occasion was not merely about remembering their sacrifice but about actively carrying forward their unwavering stand against injustice. He renewed his resolve to serve Punjab and the nation in alignment with their principles, questioning why the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, has been denied to these freedom fighters.
Criticism of Selfish Leadership and Call for Inspiration
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister criticized what he described as selfish leaders who have prioritized personal glory over national honor. "Selfish leaders in this country have built stadiums in their own names even while alive, but have done little to honor true martyrs like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru, and Shaheed Sukhdev," he asserted.
Mann pointed out that after independence, others occupied positions of power and took credit for freedoms they did not fight for, while the youth-driven leadership of martyrs like Bhagat Singh could have profoundly shaped India's trajectory. He called upon people, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from these heroes.
"Today is a day to remember these legendary heroes, to read and listen to their stories, which continue to inspire generations of youth," Mann urged, emphasizing the timeless relevance of their courage and ideals.
Legacy and Future Vision
The event underscored the Punjab government's commitment to preserving historical memory and fostering a sense of pride in the state's revolutionary heritage. By investing in the Hussainiwala Heritage Complex, the administration aims to create a space where visitors can connect with the past and be motivated by the martyrs' vision for a just and vibrant society.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to honor Punjab's rich history and promote cultural tourism, ensuring that the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev remain a beacon for future generations.
