In a significant boost to the state's police force and youth employment, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday handed over appointment letters to 1,746 newly recruited police constables. The ceremony was held at the PAP Ground in Jalandhar, marking a key step in the government's ongoing recruitment drive.
A Milestone in Youth Employment
Addressing the new recruits and the gathering, Chief Minister Mann expressed immense pride in his administration's track record. Since March 16, 2022, the Punjab government has provided jobs to an impressive 63,027 young people. Mann revealed that this translates to an average of 45 youth securing government employment every single day since his government took office.
"From my very first day, I ensured that deserving youth got their due," stated the Chief Minister. He added a remarkable note, pointing out that some youngsters have managed to secure two or even three government jobs during his tenure, a testament to the multiple opportunities created.
Transparent Recruitment and a Call to Duty
Mann emphasized that the recruitment process for these 1,746 constables was conducted with complete transparency. Candidates were selected strictly based on merit after clearing competitive examinations, ensuring a fair and unbiased selection.
Welcoming the new recruits into the "Punjab government family," the CM expressed confidence that they would become active partners in the state's social and economic progress. He urged them to use their positions for public welfare. "Your duty is to ensure maximum public welfare so that every section of society benefits. I hope you will use your positions to help the needy and underprivileged," Mann told the constables.
Strengthening Punjab Police Against Modern Threats
The Chief Minister also highlighted the broader strengthening of the police force under his watch. Over the last four years, a total of 10,264 youth have been recruited into various ranks of the Punjab Police, significantly enhancing its manpower and capabilities.
Looking ahead, Mann called upon the police force, including the new inductees, to intensify their action against pressing threats. He specifically mentioned the need for a robust crackdown on drugs, cybercrime, and gangsters to ensure law and order in the state.
The event was attended by senior officials including Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, underscoring the importance of the occasion for the state's law enforcement framework.
