Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Inaugurates Major Development Projects in Fazilka
In a significant move to boost regional infrastructure, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann dedicated a series of development projects worth crores in Fazilka on Thursday. The chief minister arrived at the Fazilka grain market to launch these initiatives, which are aimed at enhancing the district's connectivity and fostering basic development.
Infrastructure Boost for Fazilka Constituency
Mann's visit marked a new impetus for development work in the Fazilka constituency, providing a fresh direction for the area's material progress. He dedicated a large-scale project overseen by the Punjab Mandi Board, focusing on the development of link roads, bridges, and mandis (agricultural markets).
While addressing the public, the chief minister announced that 59 new bridges and link roads would be constructed in the Fazilka constituency, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 34 crore. Additionally, he revealed that Rs 22.43 crore had been approved for widening 34 km-long link roads, a measure expected to make traffic smoother and safer for residents and commuters alike.
Mann also highlighted that a substantial amount of funds had been released for the repair and renovation of previously constructed link roads, ensuring ongoing maintenance and improvement of the existing infrastructure network.
Addressing Wheat Procurement Concerns
The timing of the visit coincided with the start of the wheat procurement season, a critical period for the agricultural community in Punjab. During his address, Mann took the opportunity to address concerns regarding a strike by commission agents, who have been protesting over commission rates.
He assured farmers that the state government is fully committed to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free procurement process, despite the ongoing protests. This reassurance aims to alleviate anxieties among farmers who rely on timely and efficient procurement for their livelihoods.
The development projects and the government's stance on procurement underscore a dual focus on both infrastructural advancement and agricultural support, reflecting a holistic approach to regional growth in Fazilka.
