Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, commending the state's rich cultural heritage, robust economy, and its iconic figures who have contributed to the nation's progress. In his missive, PM Modi lauded Maharashtra's role as a powerhouse of economic growth and a beacon of cultural diversity.
Highlights of PM Modi's Letter
The Prime Minister's letter emphasized the state's unique identity, blending tradition with modernity. He noted that Maharashtra has been at the forefront of India's development story, with Mumbai serving as the financial capital and Pune emerging as a hub for education and innovation. PM Modi also recalled the contributions of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who were born in the state and shaped India's ethos.
He further appreciated the state's efforts in infrastructure development, including the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway and the Navi Mumbai International Airport, which are set to boost connectivity and economic activities. The letter also acknowledged the state's vibrant festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Gudi Padwa, which reflect its cultural richness.
Maharashtra's Economic Significance
PM Modi underscored that Maharashtra contributes significantly to India's GDP and is a leader in sectors such as manufacturing, finance, and information technology.
