PM Modi to Attend Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot This Month
PM Modi to visit Rajkot for Vibrant Gujarat meet in Jan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gujarat later this month to attend a key regional investment summit in Rajkot. The state government confirmed the Prime Minister's participation in the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) for the Saurashtra-Kutch region.

Detailed Programme Under Finalisation

Government spokesperson and senior minister Jitu Vaghani stated that the detailed schedule for the Prime Minister's visit is currently being worked out. He informed the media that the programme is being finalised in coordination between the Prime Minister's Office and the Chief Minister's Office.

"A programme is being finalised at the level of the Prime Minister's Office. They are in discussions with the Chief Minister's Office. We will share the exact details of the tour once we get instructions. But the PM will definitely visit the VGRC for the Saurashtra-Kutch region," Vaghani told reporters on Wednesday.

A New Decentralised Model for Investment

This event represents a strategic shift in the state's flagship investment initiative. After successfully organising ten editions of the state-level Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, the government has now embarked on a decentralised model. This new approach involves hosting four regional summits across Gujarat to ensure broader economic participation and focus.

The first such regional conference was held in Mehsana for north Gujarat in October. The Rajkot event is the second in this series, specifically targeting the Saurashtra-Kutch region. The remaining two conferences are planned for central Gujarat and south Gujarat.

Legacy of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit

The roots of this initiative trace back to 2003, when the Gujarat government, then led by Chief Minister Narendra Modi, launched the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Over the years, it has evolved into a premier platform for attracting domestic and foreign investment to the state.

The introduction of the VGRC is seen as an extension of this successful model, aiming to penetrate investment opportunities deeper into the state's various economic corridors and districts, beyond the main urban centres.

The upcoming conference in Rajkot is expected to focus on the unique industrial and economic potential of the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, which are significant hubs for sectors like engineering, auto components, ceramics, and renewable energy.
