Patna Student Death Triggers Protests Over Police Negligence

Patna Medical Student Death Ignites Widespread Protests Across Bihar

Protests erupted across Bihar on Monday following the tragic death of a medical aspirant at a girls' hostel in Patna. The incident triggered massive public outrage over alleged sexual violence and police negligence in handling the case.

Congress Leaders Lead Demonstrations Against State Government

A large number of Congress workers staged a major demonstration near the Income Tax roundabout in Patna. The protest was led by AICC in-charge for Bihar Krishna Allavaru and state Congress president Rajesh Ram.

The protesters raised strong slogans against the state government and burned an effigy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. They accused the police of serious negligence from the very beginning of the case.

Speaking to reporters during the protest, Allavaru delivered sharp criticism of the government's handling of the situation. He stated that law and order has completely collapsed in Bihar.

"The government is actively protecting criminals in this state," Allavaru declared. "Everyone knows that people in Bihar do not get justice due to police high-handedness. Why was an FIR not registered for three full days?"

He demanded immediate justice for the girl and her family members. Allavaru questioned why the accused had not been arrested yet. He further alleged that forming a Special Investigation Team would defeat the purpose of a fair probe.

"Such teams are often used to suppress facts and protect influential people," Allavaru claimed during his address to the media.

Women Activists and Youth Groups Join the Outcry

Women activists participating in the protests demanded strict accountability and swift justice for the victim. Their voices added to the growing chorus of anger across the state.

State Congress president Rajesh Ram echoed similar sentiments during the demonstration. He stated clearly that the government has no real intention of solving this case.

"The government and the police are jointly protecting the accused in this matter," Ram asserted. "We will continue fighting for justice for the girl and her family members until they receive it."

Multiple Protest Marches Across Patna and Vaishali

In a separate but related protest, members of the Prem Youth Foundation Patna joined local residents for an 'Aakrosh March' near Ramgulam Chowk at Gandhi Maidan. The participants expressed deep frustration with the authorities.

The protesters claimed that authorities attempted to conceal crucial facts in this case. They argued that a timely and thorough investigation could have prevented the current escalation of public anger.

Another protest march was organized by AISF members at Mahua Bazar in Vaishali. District president Prakash Priyadarshi led this demonstration, accusing authorities of failing to protect students and guard their dignity in Bihar.

Priyadarshi alleged a dangerous nexus between Patna police and criminals attempting to suppress this sexual assault case. He issued a clear warning that AISF would intensify its agitation if justice was not delivered swiftly.

Scores of students participated in this protest, raising powerful slogans and calling for immediate justice for the victim. Their collective voice added to the statewide demand for action.

Growing Public Anger Over Systemic Failures

The protests highlight several critical concerns that have emerged from this tragic incident:

  • Alleged police negligence in registering the FIR promptly
  • Questions about why the accused have not been arrested yet
  • Concerns about possible attempts to conceal facts in the case
  • Broader issues about student safety in Bihar hostels
  • Demands for accountability from both police and government officials

The widespread demonstrations reflect deep public frustration with how this case has been handled. Protesters across different groups are united in their demand for swift justice and systemic reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future.

As the protests continue to spread across Bihar, all eyes remain on how the state government will respond to these serious allegations and growing public pressure for justice.
