Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has asserted that the situation in the region has seen no significant improvement even after the revocation of Article 370. Addressing Key Concerns at Amritsar Event
Abdullah made these remarks during a special program titled "An Evening with Omar Abdullah" in Amritsar. The event was organized by the group Phulkari – Women of Amritsar (WOA). During his interaction, the former chief minister engaged with the members of the women's organization and commended their social and cultural initiatives aimed at empowering women.
He emphasized the pivotal role of women's participation in driving societal and national development. Abdullah stressed that efforts directed towards enhancing women's involvement should receive robust support at every level to foster meaningful progress.
Rising Drug Menace a Major Worry
In his address, Abdullah singled out the escalating problem of drug addiction in the region as a serious cause for concern. This highlights a continuing social challenge that demands urgent attention and intervention from authorities and civil society alike.

Speaking on the occasion, Meenakshi Khanna, the President of Phulkari WOA, outlined the organization's mission. "At Phulkari, we remain committed to fostering meaningful conversations, celebrating our cultural heritage, and creating inclusive platforms where women-led voices engage thoughtfully with national narratives," she stated.
