NSS Chief Warns Against Politicizing Sabarimala, Defends Stance on Faith
NSS warns against political use of Sabarimala gold case

In a firm address, Nair Service Society (NSS) General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair cautioned against using the sensitive Sabarimala gold theft case for political gain. He emphasized that government agencies and courts are capably handling the investigation to identify the culprits.

NSS Stands Firm on Sabarimala Faith

Speaking at the All Kerala Nair Delegates Conference in Perunna on Thursday, Nair made the organization's position clear. The event was part of the Mannam Jayanthi celebrations at the NSS headquarters. Nair stated that politicians must understand Sabarimala is a matter of faith protection, and no one should assume the NSS can be leveraged for political advantage.

"NSS will not bow to anyone's threats regarding the protection of faith in Sabarimala. This stance will continue," he declared unequivocally.

Criticism of Past Government Actions

Nair recalled the previous government's stance that allowed women of all ages to enter the Sabarimala temple, a move that sparked widespread protests. He noted that the government has since changed its position. The NSS's participation in the global Ayyappa meet, he explained, was based on assurances that temple customs would not be violated.

He criticized those who stayed away from the original women's entry agitation but later tried to politically exploit the NSS's stance. Nair also pointed a finger at the central government, alleging it did nothing to prevent the Supreme Court verdict on women's entry through legislative means.

Addressing Internal Criticism and Leadership Integrity

Nair extended gratitude to the current state government for declaring a holiday for Mannam Jayanthi. However, he also addressed criticism from within the community, alleging that some malicious individuals are working against the NSS.

"With the failure of activities against the organization, they are now attempting character assassination of the leadership," Nair said. He claimed these individuals include those with black money and those who never had any connection with NSS karayogams (local committees).

In a strong personal defense, Nair asserted that no one in his family gained anything undeservedly from the NSS. He challenged his critics, saying, "If anyone can prove otherwise, I will step down from the leadership."

The meeting was presided over by NSS President M Sasikumar, with Secretary Harikumar Koyikkal also addressing the gathering. A significant highlight of the event was the general secretary laying the foundation stone for the new headquarters building.
