Noida MLA Urges CM for Disaster Response Force After Tragic Death
In a significant development highlighting safety concerns in Noida, Dadri MLA Tejpal Nagar has formally written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging the immediate deployment of a dedicated State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) or National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) unit in the city. Mehta lost his life after his car plunged into a waterlogged construction site in Sector 150, an area that has been plagued by persistent infrastructure issues. MLA's Repeated Warnings Ignored by Authorities
MLA Tejpal Nagar revealed that he had been consistently warning officials about the hazardous conditions in Sector 150 long before the fatal accident occurred. In his detailed letter to the Chief Minister, Nagar disclosed that he had written multiple times to the District Magistrate and the Noida Authority, specifically on two critical occasions:
- September last year: Initial communication flagging poor road conditions and safety hazards
- January 12, 2024: Just days before the tragic incident, a follow-up letter reiterating the urgent need for repairs
"During my regular visits to Sector 150 to engage with constituents, residents consistently approached me with complaints about the deteriorating infrastructure," Nagar explained. "The issues ranged from poorly maintained roads and broken drainage systems to empty, dug-up plots that posed significant safety risks. As their elected representative, I took these concerns seriously and communicated them to the authorities multiple times, requesting prompt action."
Systemic Failures in Emergency Response
The MLA's letter to CM Yogi Adityanath highlights what he describes as "serious systemic failures" by multiple agencies, including:
- Noida Authority: For neglecting infrastructure maintenance despite repeated warnings
- Fire Department: For inadequate emergency response capabilities
- Disaster Management Department: For lacking localized response mechanisms
"The most alarming revelation from this tragedy was the complete dependence on external districts for emergency response," Nagar emphasized. "During the rescue operation, SDRF and NDRF teams had to be mobilized from Ghaziabad, resulting in significant logistical delays that could have been avoided with local deployment."
Comprehensive Demands for Systemic Reform
In his communication with the Chief Minister, MLA Tejpal Nagar has put forward several critical demands:
