No-Fly Zone in Jamshedpur for President Murmu's Visit

The East Singhbhum district administration in Jharkhand has imposed a strict no-flying zone over key parts of Jamshedpur and surrounding areas. This security measure is in place for the upcoming visit of President Droupadi Murmu to the industrial city.

Details of the Aerial Ban Order

The official order was issued by Dhalbhum subdivisional officer Chandrajeet Singh on Monday. It mandates a complete prohibition on all unmanned and manned aerial activities within the limits of all police stations under the Dhalbhum subdivision. The ban is effective from 6 am on December 28 until 10 pm on December 29.

The restricted activities explicitly mentioned in the order include:

  • Flying drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
  • Operating hot air balloons.
  • Paragliding and similar recreational flying sports.

This preemptive step is a standard security protocol for high-profile visits, especially those involving the President of India.

President Murmu's Itinerary in Jamshedpur

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to arrive at Sonari airport in Jamshedpur. Following her arrival, her motorcade will travel by road to Jaherthan in Karandih, a location situated approximately 15 kilometers from the airport on the city's outskirts.

The primary purpose of her visit to Jaherthan is to attend a seminar marking the centenary year of the Ol Chiki script. The Ol Chiki script is the writing system for the Santali language, and the event holds significant cultural importance for the region.

After the seminar, the President will return to the Circuit House in Sonari. Later, she will grace the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, as the chief guest, adding academic prestige to her visit.

Security Implications and Local Impact

The declaration of a no-fly zone is a critical component of the elaborate security blanket thrown over the city for the VVIP visit. It aims to prevent any potential security threats from the air and ensure a smooth, incident-free schedule for the President.

Residents, especially aviation and drone enthusiasts, have been advised to strictly adhere to the order. Authorities have warned that any violation of the ban will be dealt with seriously under the relevant legal provisions. The local administration and police are working in coordination to implement the order effectively across the specified areas.

While the ban may cause minor disruptions to planned aerial activities, it is a temporary measure deemed essential for state security. The visit highlights Jamshedpur's importance on the national stage, hosting events of both cultural heritage and academic excellence.
