CM Nitish Kumar Inspects Patna Drainage Projects, Urges Swift Completion

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing Rajiv Nagar and Anandpuri drainage projects on Sunday, emphasizing the need for accelerated progress to ensure early completion. During the visit, he directed concerned officials to expedite the construction work, highlighting its critical role in addressing urban infrastructure challenges in the state capital.

Focus on Concretization and Road Construction

Under these projects, the drains are being concretized, and two-lane roads are being constructed over them. Nitish Kumar stated that upon completion, these initiatives will effectively resolve persistent waterlogging issues while providing smooth transportation facilities for residents. He added that the projects will contribute to a cleaner and more organized cityscape, enhancing overall urban livability.

Recalling Previous Reviews and Public Engagement

The Chief Minister recalled his earlier review of development works in Patna district during the 'Pragati Yatra' on February 21, 2025, when several projects were announced. He noted that during that visit, he inspected the Anandpuri and Rajiv Nagar drainage systems, with a large number of local residents present. Responding to their concerns, he directed the repair of these drains and the construction of roads over them to improve commuting convenience. Expressing satisfaction, Kumar remarked that he is pleased to see work progressing on both projects as planned.

Project Details and Infrastructure Impact

According to a communiqué issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the Rajiv Nagar drainage system is a crucial component for water drainage in Patna. It spans 4.26 kilometers, starting from the Digha-Ashiana Road and ending at the Kurji drainage pumping station. The project involves concretizing the drain and constructing a road over it.

Similarly, the Anandpuri drainage is another vital drain for the state capital, with an approximate length of 4 kilometers. It begins at Baba Chowk and ends at the Rajapur Pul drainage pumping station, passing near Atal Path and A N College. This drain is also being concretized, with a road being built over it to enhance infrastructure and accessibility.

The inspection was attended by several senior officials, including CM’s secretary Kumar Ravi, special duty officer Gopal Singh, Patna divisional commissioner Animesh Parasar, Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner Yashpal Meena, DM Thiyagrajan SM, SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, and other key personnel.
