New Bus Station for Regonda to Enhance Regional Connectivity
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar laid the foundation stone for a new bus station at Regonda mandal headquarters in Bhupalpally district on Monday. The project carries an estimated cost of seventy-five lakh rupees. Local MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao joined the minister for the ceremony.
Strategic Location for Pilgrim and Commuter Convenience
The facility will rise at the Regonda crossroads. This placement promises greater convenience for commuters. Authorities have received instructions to implement adequate transport arrangements within the next two to three days. This move specifically targets devotees traveling from Huzurabad, Husnabad, and Karimnagar to the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara in Medaram.
Regonda holds a strategic position on the route to Medaram. The new bus station is expected to significantly ease travel for both pilgrims and daily commuters. It will strengthen regional connectivity and support large-scale seasonal travel demand.
Swift Construction and Broader Infrastructure Push
Minister Prabhakar stated that the tender process will conclude shortly. Construction will then begin on a priority basis. This project forms part of a larger infrastructure development initiative across Telangana.
The state government has allocated one hundred fifty crore rupees for upgrading bus stations and depots. Major projects under this plan include constructing a large bus station at Kaleshwaram. New depots are also planned for Peddapalli and Eturnagaram in Mulugu district.
TGSRTC's Vital Role in State Transport
During the event, the minister highlighted the critical role of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. He noted that TGSRTC serves as a vital lifeline for the state. The corporation currently operates ninety-seven depots and three hundred forty-one bus stations.
Its fleet includes nearly ten thousand buses. These vehicles transport around sixty-five lakh passengers daily across thirty-five lakh kilometres. TGSRTC employs approximately forty thousand people.
The corporation remains central to providing affordable and accessible public transport. It particularly supports economically weaker sections of society. Minister Prabhakar drew a parallel with Indian Railways, emphasizing TGSRTC's evolution.
The corporation has significantly expanded its services. It now introduces air-conditioned and special service buses. Its reach steadily extends to the remotest corners of Telangana, ensuring connectivity for all residents.
