A Nepalese couple has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly stealing Rs 25 lakh from the residence of a contractor. The incident came to light when the contractor, Subba Reddy, a resident of Arkavathi Layout, reported the theft to the police.
Details of the Incident
According to a senior police officer, the couple had been employed by Reddy about a month ago as domestic help. They were entrusted with household chores and had access to the house. Taking advantage of this, they allegedly stole the cash from a cupboard and fled the scene.
The police launched an investigation based on Reddy's complaint and tracked down the couple. They were arrested from a hideout in the city. The stolen amount was recovered from their possession. The couple has been identified as citizens of Nepal, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The Bengaluru police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for theft. The accused are being questioned to ascertain if they were involved in similar crimes in the past. The police have urged homeowners to verify the background of domestic help before employing them.
