Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to take urgent steps to address a severe fuel shortage that has forced the closure of 421 fuel outlets across the state. The decision came after a briefing where officials informed Naidu that out of the 4,510 fuel outlets in Andhra Pradesh, approximately 421 have been shut down due to supply constraints.
Government Response
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the disruption and instructed the departments concerned to coordinate with oil marketing companies to restore supplies at the earliest. He also ordered a review of the distribution mechanism to prevent such crises in the future.
Impact on Public
The fuel shortage has led to long queues at the remaining operational outlets, causing inconvenience to commuters and affecting transportation of essential goods. Many motorists have been forced to wait for hours, while some have reported running out of fuel on highways.
Officials have assured that tanker movements are being prioritized and additional supplies are being arranged. The state government is also exploring temporary measures, including increasing the frequency of fuel deliveries to affected areas.
The development comes amid rising demand for fuel in the state, which has strained existing supply chains. Naidu has warned of strict action against hoarding and black marketing, urging the public to remain patient.
