Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Directs Comprehensive Action Plan for Backward Classes

In a significant move aimed at economic empowerment, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to prepare a detailed action plan to promote backward classes as micro-entrepreneurs and MSMEs across Andhra Pradesh. The directive came during a review meeting with BC welfare department officials in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

Boosting Traditional Artisans and Economic Opportunities

The chief minister emphasized the need to distribute modern equipment to traditional artisans under the Adarana-3 scheme to enhance their productivity and income. This initiative is expected to transform traditional crafts into sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Naidu stated that the coalition government is firmly committed to the welfare of backward classes and has asked departments to design schemes that provide direct and tangible benefits to these communities.

Educational Infrastructure and Student Welfare Initiatives

During the meeting, the chief minister focused extensively on improving educational facilities for BC students:

  • He instructed officials to expedite the construction of residential schools and hostels
  • Ensured the installation of RO plants to provide safe drinking water to students
  • Directed that residential schools and hostels be built using Rs 60 crore from SASCI funds
  • Stressed the need to maintain proper sanitation in hostels and improve food quality

Officials informed Naidu that RO plants are currently being installed in 814 BC welfare hostels at a cost of Rs 17 crore, demonstrating significant progress in infrastructure development.

Academic Monitoring and Institutional Upgrades

The chief minister outlined several measures to enhance educational outcomes:

  1. Ordered the registration and linking of APAAR IDs to closely monitor the educational progress of BC students
  2. Directed officials to follow best practices in student healthcare, academic instruction, and institutional administration
  3. Instructed completion of BC welfare buildings currently under construction across the state
  4. Announced that 6 Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Residential Schools would be upgraded into junior colleges

Sustainable Development and Future Planning

In a forward-looking approach, Naidu asked officials to ensure that BC hostels and residential schools adopt the net-zero energy concept, aligning with sustainable development goals. He also revealed that the government is considering setting up a BC residential school in every constituency.

To further strengthen educational support systems, the chief minister directed officials to prepare an action plan to strengthen BC study circles, creating comprehensive academic support networks throughout the state.

This multi-faceted approach demonstrates the Andhra Pradesh government's comprehensive strategy for backward class welfare, combining economic empowerment with educational advancement and sustainable development.
