Mysuru MLA Demands Swift Police Action Against Lake Encroachers
In a decisive move to protect public land, Mysuru MLA TS Srivatsa has called for immediate legal action against individuals responsible for encroaching upon a lake at KC Layout, located at the foothills of Chamundi Hills. This demand comes just days after the Mysuru taluk administration successfully cleared large-scale encroachments from the area.
MLA Issues Ultimatum and Follows Through
Earlier, on Thursday, MLA Srivatsa issued a stern warning, stating that if the encroachment was not removed within two days, he would personally lead an eviction drive. Responding to this ultimatum, the taluk administration conducted a comprehensive eviction operation on Saturday, effectively reclaiming the encroached lake land.
During his visit to the site on Monday, Srivatsa commended the Mysuru district administration for their prompt action in clearing the land. However, he emphasized that mere eviction is insufficient. He urged officials to identify the encroachers, register a criminal case against them within the next 24 hours, and ensure they face jail time. This, he argued, is crucial to deter future violations.
Strict Measures to Safeguard Government Property
Srivatsa stressed the necessity of taking stringent measures against anyone who illegally occupies government land in Mysuru. "Only through such decisive action can we prevent similar encroachments from occurring in the future," he asserted. His stance highlights a broader commitment to preserving public resources and maintaining the ecological integrity of the region's water bodies.
In addition to his demands, the MLA expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and district minister HC Mahadevappa for their directives to officials to clear the encroachment. Their support underscores the collaborative effort between local and state authorities in addressing land misuse issues.
