Munde Family Seeks Police Protection After Threat Complaint Against Valmik Karad

In a concerning development from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the family of the late Parli businessman Mahadev Munde has formally requested police protection following a threat complaint. Dnyaneshwari Munde, the widow of Mahadev Munde, submitted a detailed application to local authorities on February 20, explicitly naming Valmik Karad and his two sons as potential threats to her family's safety.

Formal Complaint and Allegations

In her official complaint, Dnyaneshwari Munde stated that Karad and his sons should be held directly responsible if any harm comes to her or any family members. She emphasized the gravity of the situation, citing ongoing tensions and previous violent incidents. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, she revealed additional disturbing details about her son's experience.

"While my son was returning from tuition classes on Shiv Jayanti, he was forcibly stopped and physically assaulted by an unknown individual," Dnyaneshwari Munde told journalists. This incident has heightened the family's security concerns and prompted their urgent request for protection.

Police Response and Investigation

Raghunath Nachan, the officer in charge of Parli police station, confirmed that authorities have registered a non-cognisable offence against a youth named Bala in connection with the alleged attack on Munde's son. "The whereabouts of the accused remain unknown at this time," Nachan stated. "According to the victim's account, the accused verbally abused him and slapped him during the confrontation."

The police are actively investigating both the assault complaint and the broader threat allegations against Karad and his associates. This comes against the backdrop of Mahadev Munde's murder on October 20, 2023, for which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was recently formed to pursue the case.

Political Support and Background Context

NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule has publicly expressed solidarity with the Munde family, calling for immediate protective measures. In a social media post, she highlighted the ongoing murder investigation and the new threat allegations. "Considering the background of this case and the sequence of events to date, I urgently request the home minister and the Beed superintendent of police to ensure adequate protection is provided to the Munde family," Sule emphasized.

The situation is further complicated by Valmik Karad's criminal background. Karad is currently incarcerated and facing trial as the alleged mastermind behind the December 2024 abduction and killing of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. His involvement in multiple serious cases adds significant weight to the Munde family's security concerns.

Key Developments in the Case

  • Dnyaneshwari Munde filed formal threat complaint on February 20
  • Complaint specifically names Valmik Karad and his two sons
  • Separate assault case registered against youth named Bala
  • Mahadev Munde murder investigation ongoing with SIT involvement
  • Political support from NCP MP Supriya Sule for family protection
  • Valmik Karad already imprisoned for separate murder case

The Munde family's plea for protection underscores the complex security challenges in the region, particularly for families involved in high-profile criminal cases. As investigations continue, authorities face mounting pressure to ensure their safety while pursuing justice in multiple interconnected cases.
