MP CM Mohan Yadav Announces Renaming of Multai to Multapi During Nadda's Visit
Multai in Betul to be renamed Multapi, announces CM Yadav

In a significant announcement, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared on Tuesday that the town of Multai in Betul district will be renamed as Multapi. The announcement was made during a large public gathering at the police grounds in Betul, in the presence of BJP national president and Union Health Minister, JP Nadda.

Foundation for Development Laid

The name change announcement coincided with a one-day visit by JP Nadda to the state. During his visit, the Union Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of two new medical colleges. One college is slated for Dhar, while the other will be built in Betul district itself, marking a major boost for healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Chief Minister Yadav, addressing the crowd, responded positively to the long-standing demand. "Our MLA Chandrasekhar Deshmukh was speaking about changing the name of Multai. From my side, I am willing to change the name of Multai to Multapi," Yadav stated. He directly asked the public for their consent, saying, "Are you ready (for the name change)? Send the proposal and we will send it to the Union govt. I hereby announce, we will change the name of Multai."

Why the Change to Multapi?

The push for the name change is rooted in historical and cultural significance. Multai, which serves as a tehsil headquarters, was historically known as "Multapi." This name holds importance as it is the place of origin for the sacred river Tapti. Local BJP MLA Chandrasekhar Deshmukh has been actively campaigning to restore the town's historical name, a demand that has now been accepted by the state government.

Beyond the renaming, CM Yadav also announced the construction of a tribal museum in Betul, aimed at preserving and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region's tribal communities.

A Government Highlighting its Achievements

Seizing the moment, Chief Minister Yadav highlighted the accomplishments of his government, which recently completed two years in office. He pointed to the rapid development in infrastructure, notably the launch of metro rail services in both Bhopal and Indore within a single year.

He framed the current period as "a time for transformation," crediting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yadav specifically mentioned the Ken-Betwa River Linking Project, a flagship initiative expected to benefit farmers, industries, and drinking water supply in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. "This project will benefit the entire Bundelkhand region," he affirmed, connecting local developments to broader national projects.

The series of announcements, combining cultural recognition with promises of enhanced education and healthcare, underscores the government's focus on holistic development as it moves forward in its term.
