Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra Denounces Congress Government's 1000-Day Celebration

Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Karnataka on Saturday, labeling its 1000-day celebration event in Haveri as "a celebration of fraud and administrative bankruptcy." Addressing the media at the BJP office, the MP painted a grim picture of the state's current condition, accusing the ruling party of failing on multiple fronts.

Allegations of Governance Failure and Financial Distress

Raghavendra asserted that Karnataka is experiencing severe distress with development projects completely stalled. He highlighted the plight of contractors who are struggling to survive because the government has failed to release funds for its own guarantee schemes. "The state is in a dire situation," he claimed, "with administrative paralysis affecting every sector."

The MP criticized the 1000-day convention as an embarrassment to the public, citing several key issues:

  • Collapse of law and order across the state
  • Soaring prices of essential commodities affecting common citizens
  • Unresolved internal leadership conflicts within the ruling party

Specific Accusations of Corruption and Mismanagement

Raghavendra pointed to alleged scams in multiple government departments as evidence of systemic corruption:

  1. Excise department irregularities
  2. Muda (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) scandals
  3. Valmiki Corporation fund misappropriation

He accused the government of prioritizing appeasement politics over genuine governance, claiming this approach has harmed the state's development.

Unfulfilled Guarantee Schemes and Welfare Failures

The MP provided specific data about the government's flagship programs falling short:

  • Gruha Lakshmi scheme: Many beneficiaries have still not received payments
  • Yuva Nidhi funds: Only 60% of eligible recipients are currently receiving benefits
  • Annabhagya scheme: Benefits have not reached targeted beneficiaries as promised
  • Rural transportation: Approximately 1,200 rural bus routes were cancelled

Serious Concerns About Farmer Suicides and Dalit Welfare

Raghavendra highlighted particularly distressing statistics about farmer welfare:

"Over the past three years, 2,819 farmers have died by suicide in Karnataka," he revealed, "including 300 in Haveri district alone."

He further alleged that funds specifically allocated for Dalit welfare programs have been misappropriated, depriving marginalized communities of essential support.

Demand for Financial Transparency

The MP concluded his criticism with a strong demand for accountability, calling on the government to release a white paper detailing the state's financial situation. He claimed that the government currently owes contractors approximately Rs 37,000 crore in pending payments, which has crippled infrastructure development across Karnataka.

Raghavendra's comprehensive critique represents a significant political challenge to the Congress government as it marks its 1000-day milestone, setting the stage for intensified political debate about governance and development in the state.
