Residents of several villages in Mohali district have received a significant infrastructure boost with the formal commencement of a crucial road renovation project. Local MLA Kulwant Singh inaugurated the much-awaited upgrade work on the Sawara–Saidpur–Gidarpur–Chandiala road on Wednesday, marking a win for persistent community demands.
Project Details and Financial Allocation
During the inauguration event, the MLA provided a comprehensive financial breakdown of the development initiative. He revealed that a total sum of Rs 2.92 crore has been sanctioned for the entire project. The bulk of this investment, Rs 2.75 crore, is dedicated specifically to the road construction work itself.
Furthermore, a forward-thinking provision for upkeep has been made. An additional Rs 17 lakh has been separately allocated to cover the maintenance of the newly renovated road for a period of five years. This ensures the asset's longevity post-construction.
Addressing Long-Standing Public Demand
This renovation fulfills a long-pending request from the local populace who have dealt with the deteriorating condition of the vital link. MLA Kulwant Singh acknowledged that the road was originally constructed back in 2017 and has since been in urgent need of major repairs.
The poor state of the roadway had become a daily inconvenience for commuters and residents of the connected villages, affecting travel, local business, and overall connectivity. The launch of the renovation work is therefore seen as a direct response to these public grievances.
