PM Modi Slams Congress Legacy, Inaugurates Guwahati Airport Terminal
Modi: Congress ignored Assam, NE development; BJP correcting mistakes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp critique against the previous Congress-led administration in Assam on Saturday, asserting that the state and the broader Northeast region were never a priority for the opposition party. The remarks came during a significant development event in Guwahati.

PM Modi Inaugurates New Airport Terminal

The Prime Minister was in the state capital to inaugurate a new terminal at the Guwahati airport, a project seen as a boost to regional connectivity. Speaking at the event, he framed the inauguration as part of a larger, ongoing transformation for Assam under his government's rule.

"The Modi government is correcting Congress's mistakes," PM Modi stated emphatically, addressing the gathering in Guwahati. He contrasted the current administration's focus with what he described as the past regime's neglect.

A Personal Bond with Assam

Modi expressed a deep personal connection to the region, which he said fuels his government's development agenda. "My attachment to the soil of Assam, the love and affection of the people here, and especially the love of the mothers and sisters of Assam and the Northeast, continuously inspire me, strengthening our resolve for the development of the Northeast," he said.

He proclaimed that a new chapter is being written in Assam's developmental journey, with infrastructure projects like the airport terminal serving as key milestones.

Double-Engine Government's Unabated Push

At a subsequent rally, the Prime Minister used a powerful metaphor to describe the pace of development under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which governs both at the Centre and in the state. "Development under BJP's double-engine government flows unabated in Assam just as the flow of the mighty Brahmaputra river," PM Modi declared.

The statement underscored the party's central campaign theme of a "double-engine sarkar" ensuring faster and more efficient implementation of schemes and projects compared to states with different ruling parties at the state and central levels.

The event highlights the continuing political focus on the Northeast and sets the stage for the BJP's development narrative versus the Congress's historical record in the region.
