Mizoram CM Lalduhoma Credits Fiscal Discipline for No Overdraft Since 2023
Mizoram CM: No Overdraft Since 2023 Due to Fiscal Discipline

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma made a significant announcement on Monday. He stated that the state has successfully avoided an overdraft situation since December 2023. Lalduhoma credited this financial stability to sustained fiscal discipline and early corrective measures implemented by his government.

Addressing the ZPM Party Session

Lalduhoma delivered these remarks during the Zoram People's Movement's first internal party session for 2026. The session took place at the party office in Aizawl. He recalled the intense efforts made during the final week of December 2023. The government worked tirelessly at that time to stabilize the state's finances.

"Since then, and up to date, the state has not slipped into overdraft," Lalduhoma declared confidently.

Clearing Old Liabilities

The Chief Minister provided specific details about financial commitments. He revealed that the government has cleared committed liabilities worth Rs 6,311 lakh over the past two years. Lalduhoma described these as old dues inherited from previous administrations.

However, he acknowledged that some liabilities remain pending. Amounts totaling Rs 7,646 lakh are still outstanding according to his statement.

Healthcare Achievements and Reforms

Lalduhoma also highlighted improvements in Mizoram's healthcare system. He claimed the state's healthcare scheme ranks among the best in the country. The Chief Minister compared it only to a recent model drafted in Punjab.

"Except for that, our healthcare system stands out as the best in India," he asserted during his address.

Other Government Initiatives

The Chief Minister outlined several other accomplishments of his administration. He mentioned that within twenty days of the ZPM government's formation, general consent was granted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Lalduhoma also pointed to reforms in the public distribution system (PDS). He stated that irregularities in rice distribution have been effectively curbed. This was achieved by ending questionable practices and strengthening retailer accountability measures.

The Mizoram Chief Minister's comprehensive address covered multiple aspects of governance. His focus remained on financial stability, healthcare improvements, and systemic reforms implemented since his government took office.
