Manipur Congress Gets 4 Lakh Signatures in Anti-BJP Campaign

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has announced the triumphant conclusion of its extensive signature campaign across the state, backing the party's prominent 'vote chor, gaddi chhod' movement. The drive witnessed massive public engagement, amassing an impressive number of signatures.

Overwhelming Public Response

On Saturday, MPCC president Keisham Meghachandra Singh revealed to media representatives that the campaign successfully collected 4,07,411 signatures from various regions of Manipur. Singh emphasized the significance of this participation, stating it represents one of the highest engagement rates recorded in the entire northeastern region.

"We are profoundly thankful to every individual who responded to Rahulji's appeal and strengthened this movement with their support," Singh expressed during the media briefing. The campaign's success demonstrates substantial public backing for the Congress party's initiative.

Next Steps and National Implications

The collected signatures are now scheduled to be forwarded to the All India Congress Committee (AICC), which is preparing to organize a national-level event later this month. This significant gathering will feature the submission of a memorandum to the President of India, accompanied by signatures collected from across the nation.

Singh reiterated the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi concerning electoral roll discrepancies in states such as Haryana and Karnataka. He characterized these incidents as clear examples of 'vote chori' that fundamentally undermine democratic principles.

Broader Political Concerns

"These revelations demonstrate how democracy is being systematically manipulated under the Modi government through falsehoods and orchestrated performances," Singh asserted. Regarding the upcoming Bihar elections, the MPCC president conveyed confidence in the Mahagathbandhan's victory, provided that electoral irregularities are properly addressed.

Singh also raised serious concerns about the persistent conflict situation in Manipur and the difficult circumstances faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs). He criticized the BJP government for its failure to initiate meaningful peace processes.

"Approaching three years have passed, and there remains no constructive dialogue between the conflicting communities," Singh highlighted, pointing to the ongoing humanitarian challenge in the state.
