In a significant move to tackle chronic traffic congestion and prioritize emergency services, the Lucknow Police has successfully relocated the popular Mangal Bazaar to a new, more systematic location. The market, which had been operating at the Bangla Bazaar crossing for nearly 12 years, was shifted on Tuesday to the service lane of PWD Road near the irrigation department colony.

The relocation was a joint initiative undertaken by the Lucknow Police, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), and the Traffic Police. The primary objective behind this decision was to alleviate the severe traffic bottlenecks caused by the market's previous location, which was near major intersections and hospitals. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Nipun Agarwal stated that the move aims to improve overall traffic flow, reduce inconvenience for daily commuters, and crucially, ensure an unobstructed passage for ambulances and fire service vehicles.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Krishnanagar) Rajneesh Verma emphasized that the shift was executed after meticulous planning and coordination with all involved parties. Prior to the relocation, multiple meetings were held with market representatives, local traders, municipal officials, and traffic police to discuss the transition plan and address any concerns. This collaborative approach ensured the process was carried out smoothly, without any law and order issues, and with the cooperation of traders and residents.

The new site for Mangal Bazaar on the PWD Road service lane has been arranged in a more organized and systematic manner. Authorities believe this new layout will not only prevent the chaotic snarls that were a regular feature at the Bangla Bazaar crossing but also provide a better, safer environment for both vendors and shoppers.
