Lucknow Voters Declared Dead While Alive, Names Deleted from Electoral Roll
Lucknow Voters Declared Dead While Alive in Draft

Three residents of Lucknow's Madehganj area received a shocking surprise. They discovered their names listed among dead voters in the latest draft of the Special Intensive Revision for 2026. The draft was published on January 6, 2026. It contained a total of 1,28,242 people classified as deceased.

Voters Find Themselves Officially Dead

Mohammad Imran Ahmad, aged 42, Mohammad Rizwan Khan, aged 50, and Mohammad Sami Usmani, aged 60, all live at the same address. The electoral authorities deleted their voter identities after marking them as dead. This classification baffles the men because they all cast their votes very recently.

Recent Voting Activity Ignored

All three individuals voted on October 27, 2025. They cast their ballots at polling booth number 120. This booth is located at Almighty Montessori School. At this particular polling station, the Booth Level Officer declared 41 voters as dead out of a total of 1,241 voters. The revision follows a new rule that limits each booth to a maximum of 1,200 voters.

The error seems particularly inexplicable. Each man personally submitted his enumeration form to the Booth Level Officer. They all possess official acknowledgements for their submissions.

Personal Stories of the Affected Voters

Mohammad Imran Ahmad owns a café. He confirmed that he has solid proof of his form submission. Mohammad Rizwan Khan works as an artisan. He faces the same confusing situation without any clear explanation.

For Mohammad Sami Usmani, the mistake feels especially painful. He is a senior citizen who has voted in every single election since 1980. Finding himself officially listed as deceased is both shocking and disheartening for him. Despite his decades-long voting history and all his valid documents, the system marked him as dead.

Official Response and Next Steps

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has issued advice for affected citizens. He recommends that all people missing from the draft should submit Form 6. This form will register them as new voters. Doing so should ensure their names appear in the final electoral roll. The final roll is scheduled for publication on March 6, 2026.

This incident highlights potential flaws in the voter list revision process. It raises concerns about accuracy and verification methods used by election officials. Voters in Lucknow and across Uttar Pradesh are now checking the draft carefully to avoid similar errors.
