KTR Slams Centre for Delaying Sircilla Power Loom Cluster

BRS working president KT Rama Rao has launched a sharp attack on the central government. He accuses the Centre of deliberately delaying the sanctioning of a mega power loom cluster for Sircilla. Rao terms this delay nothing short of a political vendetta. He says the move targets both Telangana and its vital weaver community.

A Decade-Long Wait for Justice

In a strongly worded letter to Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh on Monday, KTR condemned what he called a discriminatory approach. He pointed out that the demand for this cluster is not new. It has been pending for over ten long years. KTR revealed he has written multiple letters to the Centre during this period. He also held several personal meetings with Union ministers over the last twelve years.

"Despite meeting central ministers nearly ten times and submitting detailed reports, the Centre failed to take a positive decision," KTR stated. He posed a direct question: "What is the real reason behind keeping Sircilla's file aside?"

Sircilla: The Backbone of Telangana's Textile Economy

KTR described Sircilla as the crucial backbone of the state's textile economy. The region houses an impressive network of over 30,000 power looms. This industry provides a stable livelihood to thousands of families across the area. He criticized the Centre for sanctioning mega clusters to regions in other states. These regions, he argued, have far lower capacity and workforce compared to Sircilla.

The problem is not a lack of merit. KTR asserted that Sircilla has fulfilled every eligibility norm under the government's own Comprehensive Powerloom Cluster Development Scheme (CPCDS). "The problem is BJP's political hostility towards Telangana," he claimed forcefully.

Call for Action in the Upcoming Budget

KTR made a direct appeal to the central government. He asked the Centre to finally announce the power loom cluster for Sircilla in the upcoming Union budget. This move, he said, would put an end to a decade-long injustice. He urged the Centre to act beyond narrow politics. The government must uphold the true spirit of cooperative federalism, he insisted. An immediate and positive decision is needed in the interest of Telangana's weavers.

Criticism of BJP's Telangana Leadership

KTR also turned his fire on BJP leaders from Telangana. He accused the state's BJP MPs and Union ministers of completely failing to protect Telangana's interests. "Despite Telangana electing eight BJP MPs and having representation in the Union cabinet, they failed to even voice the agony of Sircilla's weavers," he alleged. He said they were reduced to mere ceremonial showpieces without real influence.

He added a broader political charge. "BJP leaders use Telangana only for votes, not for securing development or funds," KTR concluded, highlighting a perceived pattern of neglect.
