Arvind Kejriwal Visits Vadodara to Console Harni Boat Tragedy Families

National convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal, traveled to Vadodara on Monday. He met with the families of victims from the Harni boat tragedy. Kejriwal was in the city for a party workers' convention covering seven parliamentary constituencies, including Vadodara.

Meeting Held with Suspended BJP Councillor Present

Kejriwal conducted the meeting in the presence of Ashish Joshi, a municipal councillor suspended from the BJP. Joshi has actively advocated for the victims. He raised concerns about justice and compensation during the Vadodara Municipal Corporation's general board meetings.

The tragic incident occurred on January 18, 2023. It claimed fourteen lives, including twelve schoolchildren and two teachers. The boat capsized in Harni, leaving the community in deep mourning.

Kejriwal Alleges Lack of Accountability and Compensation

After speaking with the families, Kejriwal addressed the media. He shared that the victims expressed their profound grief to him. Kejriwal stated that those responsible for the tragedy have not faced punishment.

The families are still waiting for compensation, according to Kejriwal. He suggested that contractors involved might be receiving protection due to their connections with the BJP. This allegation adds a political dimension to the ongoing issue.

Kejriwal emphasized the need for swift justice and proper support for the affected families. His visit highlights the AAP's focus on grassroots issues and victim advocacy in Gujarat.
