Karnataka Leaders Pay Tribute to Bheemanna Khandre in Bidar

Top Karnataka leaders gathered in Bhalki town on Saturday to honor veteran Congress figure Bheemanna Khandre. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar led the tributes. Ministers Priyank Kharge, MB Patil, HK Patil, and KJ George joined them. Several MLAs also attended the emotional ceremony.

Chief Minister Remembers Khandre's Legacy

After paying his respects, Siddaramaiah spoke about Khandre's remarkable life. He highlighted Khandre's participation in the Hyderabad liberation struggle as a freedom fighter. The Chief Minister noted his relentless work for justice. Siddaramaiah also mentioned Khandre's crucial campaign to include Bidar district in Karnataka.

"His guidance lit the path for countless young people," Siddaramaiah stated. "He showed us how to make life meaningful. Bheemanna Khandre truly lived by that principle."

Educational and Community Leadership

Bheemanna Khandre served as president of Shantivardhak Educational Institutions. In this role, he founded Akkamahadevi College in Bidar. He also established an engineering college in Bhalki. These institutions provided higher education opportunities for girls across the district. Thousands of young people benefited from his vision.

As national president of the Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Khandre worked tirelessly. He focused on uniting the community. His organizational skills were exceptional. Under his leadership, the sabha's membership grew dramatically. It expanded from just a few thousand members to lakhs.

Final Resting Place

The veteran leader was laid to rest beside his wife Laxmibai's grave. Veerashaiva Lingayat rituals were performed during the last rites. Lingayat seers from various mutts participated in the ceremony. The event reflected the deep respect Khandre commanded across communities.
