Karnataka Converts 8,000 Sakleshpur Areas into Revenue Villages
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda made a significant announcement on Friday evening. He revealed that about 8,000 undocumented residential areas in Sakleshpur are now being converted into revenue villages. This move aims to formalize land ownership and improve governance in the region.
Public Grievance Meeting Addresses Key Issues
Krishna Byre Gowda, who also oversees Hassan district, spoke after receiving 986 applications during a Janaspandana public grievance meeting in Sakleshpura. The minister emphasized that efforts are underway across Karnataka to convert similar undocumented residential areas into revenue villages. However, he clarified that forest areas will remain excluded from this initiative.
Directives for Housing Allocation
The minister issued clear instructions to local officials. He directed the tahsildar and the executive officer of the Town Panchayat to work together. Their task is to identify suitable plots for housing in each hobli. Following this identification, they must take steps to allocate these plots to eligible individuals.
Resolving Land Disputes in Acharagi Area
During the meeting, a petition from over 40 residents in the Acharagi area of Sakleshpura town came to light. These residents had received eviction notices from the revenue department. In response, the minister questioned how certificates were issued for government land in the first place.
He pointed out that records of residents and title deeds were provided by Halasulige Gram Panchayat and the municipality back in 1995-96. Municipal officials explained that accounts were created based on the submitted documents at that time. They advised the residents to submit necessary documents to the relevant authorities to support their claims.
Justice Sought for Dalit Family Eviction
Farmers leader Haiduru Jayanna raised another critical issue. He sought justice regarding a Dalit family being evicted by an individual in Kadur village of Alur taluk. The minister responded positively to this concern, indicating a commitment to address such injustices.
