Mangaluru: The Federation of Like-minded Organisations of Dakshina Kannada District has expressed strong displeasure against the Congress government, alleging that injustice has been meted out to Muslims and the AHINDA community, which includes minorities, backward classes, and Dalits.
Allegations of Neglect
Bharatesh Bajal, president of AHINDA Mangaluru, stated, "It is deeply painful that the Congress government in Karnataka, which came to power on the plank of social justice, AHINDA principles, and minority rights, has ignored the aspirations of the minority Muslim community and the AHINDA section. It has been a long-standing demand of our organisations that minorities must get adequate representation in the state's administrative and political system."
Zameer Ahmed Khan's Role Highlighted
Bajal emphasised that BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has been recognised as a strong voice of the Muslim community, consistently raising community issues at the government level and contributing significantly to the growth of the Congress party. He warned that not offering Khan a more prominent position in the cabinet and overlooking him during the first phase of the cabinet expansion would be a great injustice to the community.
Social Justice Concerns
Lolaksha, president of the Confederation of SCs' and STs Organisations, remarked that a government that came to power with the support of minorities, backward classes, and AHINDA communities neglecting those very sections during the distribution of power goes against the core spirit of social justice. "This is not just an injustice to an individual; it is a blatant disregard for the sentiments of lakhs of minority voters," he said.
Demands for Representation
The federation has urged the state government and the Congress high command to ensure that representation be given to the Muslim community in the cabinet and key administrative posts. "At least five cabinet berths should be given to the Muslim community. Zameer Ahmed Khan should be given the deputy chief minister’s position," they demanded.
