Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has ordered a door-to-door survey to ensure the effective implementation of the state's guarantee schemes. The decision comes after a review meeting flagged two major technical issues affecting the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, which provides financial assistance to women.
Technical Issues Identified
The meeting highlighted that funds under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme were being credited to deceased beneficiaries and into accounts of GST-IT payees. These discrepancies have raised concerns about the accuracy of the beneficiary database.
Door-to-Door Verification
To address these issues, the CM has directed officials to conduct a comprehensive door-to-door survey. This survey aims to verify the eligibility of current beneficiaries and update the records to prevent further misallocations.
The survey will also help identify genuine beneficiaries who may have been left out. Officials have been instructed to complete the process within a stipulated timeframe to ensure timely disbursal of benefits.
Chief Minister Shivakumar emphasized the importance of transparency and efficiency in implementing the guarantee schemes. He stated that any lapses would be dealt with strictly.
The Gruha Lakshmi scheme is part of the Congress government's five guarantee schemes, which include free electricity, food grains, and healthcare. The door-to-door survey is expected to streamline the delivery of these benefits.
