Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Asserts Opposition Recognizes Govt's Positive Direction
In a significant statement during the ongoing budget session, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren declared that the opposition is now acknowledging and accepting that the JMM-led alliance government in the state is moving in the right direction with good intentions and unwavering commitment. He emphasized this by pointing out that not a single amendment notice has been submitted to the governor's address to the assembly, a first in Jharkhand's 25-year history.
Governor's Address Highlights Visible Groundwork
Replying to the debate on the governor's address, Soren asserted that the achievements of his government are not merely on paper but are visibly manifesting on the ground despite numerous challenges and hurdles. "Unlike earlier times, works are now visible on the ground because our intent is clear. The governor's address aptly highlighted those," he said. He further noted that even the opposition is beginning to realize this dedication, as evidenced by the lack of amendment proposals.
"For the first time in 25 years of Jharkhand's formation, not a single amendment notice to the governor's address has come this time. This indicates that the opposition has nothing substantive to say," Soren remarked. He added that while opposition members continue to raise allegations, he attributes this to their political compulsions rather than genuine concerns.
Criticism of Union Government and Democratic Values
Turning his attention to the national stage, Chief Minister Soren launched a sharp critique of the BJP-led Union government. He accused it of implementing poor and anti-people policies that are adversely affecting the poor, downtrodden, and farmers. "Due to these policies, most people are feeling the brunt, making lives difficult. Now, with potential trade deals, farm products from the US could flood our markets, which would devastate our local farmers and the agricultural sector," he warned.
Soren also contrasted the democratic environment in Jharkhand with that of the central government. "In Jharkhand, we uphold democratic values, allowing the opposition to speak and criticize in the house. But in Parliament, the leader of the opposition isn't even allowed to speak. We are passing through critical times where hate is being promoted," he stated, highlighting concerns about diminishing democratic norms at the national level.
Focus on Village Development and Replicable Models
The Chief Minister reiterated his government's grassroots approach, emphasizing that it does not believe in empty rhetoric. "Our government runs from the villages with the belief that only a developed village will lead to a developed state and, ultimately, a developed country," he explained. He proudly noted that many of Jharkhand's successful initiatives are now being replicated by other states, showcasing the effectiveness of their policies.
Tribute to Organ Donation and Future Plans
In a heartfelt segment of his address, Hemant Soren made a special mention of Aalin Sherin Abraham, a deceased 10-month-old baby from Kerala whose parents donated her organs, saving at least four lives. He expressed deep admiration for this noble act, stating that Aalin has achieved immortality through her contribution.
"This incident touched my heart, and I salute the baby and her parents. Even after death, she ensured the lives of others. We need to strengthen organ donation rules to save many more lives," Soren said. He announced that his government would soon work on formulating proper rules and regulations to promote organ donation on a large scale across Jharkhand.
Vision for Jharkhand's Future
Looking ahead, Chief Minister Soren outlined an ambitious vision for the state, declaring that Jharkhand aims to become one of the top developed states in India by 2050.
