Jaipur Braces for Major Traffic Disruptions on Thursday

Jaipur residents should prepare for significant traffic challenges this Thursday. Three major events are happening on the same day across the city. The events will likely cause congestion and require multiple diversions throughout the day.

Three Events Converge on a Single Day

The Army Day Parade will take place on Mahal Road. The Indian Army's Shaurya Sandhya event is scheduled at SMS Stadium. The Jaipur Literature Festival begins on JLN Marg. All three events are occurring simultaneously.

Key roads like JLN Marg and Tonk Road are expected to experience heavy traffic. Officials anticipate major congestion due to the overlapping schedules.

Traffic Plans and Restrictions Announced

The district administration and city police have created a comprehensive traffic management plan. They issued advisories to handle the expected crowd and vehicle flow. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other VVIPs will attend the events.

Specific restrictions include:

  • Mahal Road vehicle movement will remain suspended between NRI Chouraha and Bombay Hospital intersection from early morning until noon.
  • Traffic around SMS Stadium will face restrictions on all four sides from 4pm to 5pm and again from 7pm to 8pm for the Shaurya Sandhya event.

JLN Marg Faces Double Pressure

Officials predict huge congestion on JLN Marg. The road will feel pressure from both the SMS Stadium diversions and the Jaipur Literature Festival. Authorities released a detailed traffic plan for the stretch between Jawahar Circle and SL Marg intersection.

An official stated clearly: "No vehicles will be allowed to stop even for a few minutes on both flanks of this important stretch." All cars needing to pick up or drop passengers must use the service roads.

The police have earmarked six specific spots on the service lanes for parking. These spots are located on both sides of the main entrance to Hotel Clarks Amer. This measure aims to manage the expected influx of festival attendees and event participants.

Residents and visitors should plan their routes carefully. They should allow extra travel time and consider alternative transportation options. The traffic department urges everyone to follow the announced advisories to minimize disruption.
