Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the controversial demolition of 42 houses in Vijayawada's Joji Nagar locality. He has also demanded immediate government intervention to provide house sites and settle bank loans for the displaced families.
Allegations of Illegal Demolition and Land Grab
Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the demolition site and met with the affected residents on Tuesday. He stated that the houses were razed despite a court order providing the residents relief until December 31. According to him, the 42 families had been legally residing on the 2.17-acre plot, valued at an estimated Rs 150 crore, for the past 25 years.
"The demolition was executed with heavy police presence, even though the case is pending in the Supreme Court and the residents had relief till Dec 31," the YSRCP chief alleged. He asserted that the families possessed all necessary permissions and were regularly paying Equated Monthly Installments (EMIs) on bank loans they had taken for their homes.
Fake Documents and Bogus Society Claims
Reddy leveled serious accusations of fraud in the land dispute. He claimed that fake documents were created and a bogus society was registered with a back date in 2016. The entire litigation, he alleged, was manufactured with the sole purpose of grabbing the prime land and handing it over to private players.
"However, the greed of higher authorities sided with some private players," he said, pointing fingers at a possible nexus. He insisted that only a high-level investigation by the CBI could uncover the complete truth and the behind-the-scenes operations that led to the demolition.
Promises of Support and Future Action
The opposition leader extended his party's full support to the locals and promised to fight for justice. He warned that once the YSRCP returns to power, all issues related to the case would be resolved and those responsible for the demolition would be held accountable.
"After YSRCP comes to power, all issues will be sorted out, and all those responsible for the demolition will be brought to book," Jagan Mohan Reddy declared. His immediate demands remain clear: a CBI inquiry to unravel the conspiracy and government assistance for the victims through house sites and loan repayment.
