Himachal Deputy CM Inaugurates Major Water Scheme for Chintpurni Temple Region

In a significant development for the region, Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri officially inaugurated a Rs 12.42 crore lift drinking water scheme for the Mata Shri Chintpurni temple area on Saturday. This ambitious project is set to transform water accessibility for thousands of local residents and devotees.

Project Details and Immediate Benefits

The newly launched scheme will provide a reliable supply of clean drinking water to 19 villages spread across five panchayats. Officials estimate that over 10,000 residents, 4,000 students, and thousands of annual temple devotees will directly benefit from this infrastructure upgrade.

Key technical components of the project include:

  • Sourcing water from the Kalruhi Khadd through a 17-kilometer pipeline
  • Installation of three modern storage tanks
  • Implementation of advanced pumping machinery for efficient water distribution

Addressing Long-Standing Water Challenges

During the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Agnihotri emphasized that this project addresses a critical need that the region has awaited for many years. He congratulated the executing officials for completing the work on schedule and ensuring it provides a sustainable, long-term solution to meet future water demands.

"This scheme represents more than just infrastructure—it's about dignity, health, and development for our communities," Agnihotri stated.

Broader Development Initiatives in the Constituency

The deputy chief minister revealed that development works worth approximately Rs 150 crore are currently ongoing throughout the Shri Chintpurni assembly constituency. He issued specific instructions for the swift execution of the Rs 4 crore 'Mata Ka Bagh' drinking water scheme, setting an ambitious target for its completion within the next six months.

Temple Development and Religious Tourism Enhancement

Agnihotri also highlighted comprehensive plans for temple development, noting that Rs 130 crore has been allocated for expansion and beautification projects at the Chintpurni temple complex. He directed officials to accelerate progress on the Rs 100 crore ropeway project, which will significantly improve accessibility for pilgrims.

In a forward-looking announcement, the deputy chief minister revealed that authorities are exploring water transport connectivity to the Naina Devi temple, a strategic move designed to boost religious tourism across the region by creating integrated pilgrimage circuits.

This multi-faceted approach to infrastructure development demonstrates the state government's commitment to addressing both practical needs like water access and broader economic opportunities through enhanced tourism infrastructure.
