The widow of a Haryana Police assistant sub-inspector, who died by suicide earlier this year, is likely to be appointed as a teacher at a school operating within the Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) campus in Rohtak. This development follows a government promise of employment to the family after the tragic incident.
Promise of a Government Job After Tragedy
ASI Sandeep Lather, who served as the cyber cell in-charge at the superintendent of police office, died by suicide on October 14 this year. The incident occurred at Ladhot village, where he reportedly used his service revolver. In the aftermath, his family sought both assistance and action regarding the case, prompting authorities to initiate inquiry proceedings and support measures.
Confirming the recent development, Santosh Lather, the late officer's wife, stated that MDU authorities have requested her educational documents for consideration. "I am a postgraduate in maths, BEd, and an HTET-qualified candidate. Teaching suits my educational credentials," she said. She added that the government had promised a job after her husband's demise and that the family is now waiting for the promise to be fulfilled at the earliest.
Recruitment Process Awaits State Approval
Sources have indicated that the MDU authorities have already forwarded the widow's academic certificates to the state government for the necessary approval. Sunita Saini, the director of the MDU campus school, clarified the process. She explained that direct recruitment is not possible by the school itself. The recruitment is carried out through the university's established mechanism, and the post can only be filled after receiving proper approval and confirmation from the relevant authorities.
Family Seeks Updates on FIR Status
Alongside pursuing the job promise, the family continues to seek clarity on the case related to Lather's death. Sources report that family members recently met with senior police officers in the state to inquire about the latest status of the First Information Report (FIR) registered in connection with the incident. This dual pursuit highlights the family's quest for both justice and the promised financial security following their loss.
The situation underscores the mechanisms of support promised to the families of deceased government servants and the procedural steps involved in fulfilling such commitments through state-run educational institutions.
