Tragic Suicide of Young Married Couple in Gujarat Village

In a heartbreaking incident, a young couple allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison in Ghata village of Halol taluka, located in Panchmahal district, Gujarat. The local police confirmed the tragic event on Friday, pointing to frequent quarrels between the spouses as the suspected motive behind this desperate act.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy

The distressing episode began on Thursday evening when Jayshri Baria, aged 22, started vomiting at her residence. Concerned neighbors promptly rushed her to a hospital in Shivrajpur. As her condition worsened, she was transferred to a medical facility in Halol for more advanced care. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Jayshri succumbed to the poison during treatment.

Subsequent preliminary investigations by the police uncovered that her husband, Hitesh Baria, aged 32, had also ingested a pesticide. After consuming the poison, Hitesh reportedly left their home. Villagers organized a search and tragically discovered his lifeless body on a farm near their residence on Friday night.

Police Investigation and Findings

Postmortem examinations for both individuals were conducted at the Halol Community Health Centre to determine the exact causes of death. The Pavagadh police have officially registered an accidental death case and have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this double suicide.

Police Inspector A B Vora provided further details, revealing that the couple had been married for approximately one year and did not have any children. He emphasized that frequent quarrels were a recurring issue in their relationship, which likely contributed to their decision to end their lives.

This incident highlights the severe consequences of unresolved marital conflicts and underscores the urgent need for mental health support and conflict resolution mechanisms in rural communities.
