In a significant move to boost urban infrastructure, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is set to distribute financial assistance worth a massive Rs 2,800 crore to municipal corporations and municipalities across the state. The event is scheduled for Wednesday at the Auda auditorium located in Shela.
Major Fund Disbursement for Civic Projects
The official statement from the government confirmed that the cheques will be allocated for the implementation of various development projects at the local level. The ceremony will witness the presence of key dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Urban Development Department Minister Kanu Desai, among other officials.
Gandhinagar Hosts Key Road Safety Workshop
In a separate but crucial initiative for public welfare, a three-day workshop on road safety management commenced in Gandhinagar. Organized by the Gujarat Road Safety Authority (GRSA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE), the event runs from December 15 to 17.
The workshop aims to enhance the technical and operational skills of officials from multiple agencies, including the police, transport department (RTO), road and building department, NHAI, and municipal corporations. The focus is to make the implementation of road safety measures across Gujarat more effective and streamlined.

On the cultural and administrative front, Chief Secretary M K Das inaugurated the All-India Civil Services Lawn Tennis Tournament for 2025-26 in Gandhinagar on Tuesday. The tournament, being held at the Gymkhana in Sector 21, will see participation from 266 players and will continue until December 22. Das emphasized that such events provide officers a vital break from departmental duties to engage in sports, build inter-state camaraderie, and promote physical fitness.
Meanwhile, on the political landscape, Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda announced the second phase of the party's Jan Aakrosh Yatra for central Gujarat. The yatra is planned from December 20 to January 6, starting from Phagvel and concluding at Dahod. Chavda stated that the march is intended to highlight the pressing problems and grievances faced by the common citizens in the region.
