Governor Takes Action After Administrative Blunder

West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has constituted a special investigation committee following a major administrative oversight where a letter from Raj Bhavan was sent to the residence of deceased TMC MLA Tapas Saha, wishing him good health. The incident occurred on Wednesday when the Governor's office dispatched letters marking his three-year completion in office.

The Unfortunate Incident

During the occasion of completing three years in his position, Governor Bose had sent formal letters extending good health wishes to the Chief Minister, various MLAs, and ministers across the state. However, in what has become an embarrassing situation, one such letter reached the family of Tapas Saha, the TMC legislator from Tehatta constituency who had passed away in May.

Family members of the late MLA expressed shock and distress upon receiving the correspondence from the Governor's office. In another unusual occurrence, a similar letter was also sent to Mukul Roy, who had lost his MLA status following a High Court order earlier this month.

Investigation Committee Formed

Responding promptly to the situation, Governor Bose established a committee headed by former IAS officer S K Pattanayak, who currently serves as the Chief of Staff at Raj Bhavan. A senior official from the Governor's house clarified that the names of both Saha and Roy were not included in the original list of intended recipients.

"Henceforth, all letters requiring the governor's signature must be properly scrutinized by the committee," the official stated. The official further suggested that "it might be a case of sabotage to put the governor in a difficult position," indicating possible malicious intent behind the administrative error.

The newly formed committee has been mandated to ensure thorough verification of all documents and correspondence before they reach the Governor for signature, preventing similar incidents in the future.
